My New Name is "Sissy"

Hi!
I wanted to tell all of you about my new sister. Her name is K. Before I met her I was really, really scared but I when I met her I wasn't scared anymore. We started playing and I decided I liked her. She called me Sissy and I told her that was ok. I'm really excited about being a Big Sister.

I think she's really cool. We look a lot alike. She is an ok kid. K likes to play to games with me and she likes to swim just like me. She's a good swimmer. ♥♥♥ Her favorite colors are pink and purple.

We've played in the pool all day yesterday and today. This afternoon we had a picnic by the pool.

Sometimes she gets on my nerves but I still want her to be my sister.

She's going to be my sister forever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever. ♥♥♥

I'm grateful to have a sister.

Sincerely,

J

Hi J!

I so enjoyed meeting you in San Antonio. I was very impressed with how well you and your mom handled your stress at lunch.

I'm excited to see you posting on your blog again and am so glad you like your new name (Sissy) and your new little sister!

I hope you two like playing with your new dolls together. I don't know if K is reading well, but if not maybe you can read some of the new books to her.

Your mom is one lucky lady to have you guys. You and your sister are lucky to have such a great mom!

Hi J! I've been reading your blog for awhile now and I was hoping you'd come back. Being a big sister can be both fun and challenging. I hope you'll continue to tell us about it.

Congrats on being a big sis! You know the part I am most excited about? That you are going to be there to help your new sister on her journey to being a normal kid too!

You are such a good big sister already. You have experienced things she is going to and you can help her with that! Guess what? When you wrote that she gets on your nerves but you still want her to be your sister I thought Yep, they are meant to be sisters. Because sisters and brothers too, will get on your nerves! But you love them anyways.

How exciting! I am a big sister to three younger sisters and they can be a pain. :-) I just tried (really hard) to remember that they looked up to me because I was older and a lot of the times they wanted to be around me because they thought I was great and interesting since I knew stuff they didn't. You will have so much fun with a sister. :-)

Wow J! That's so cool! I have a little sister too, her names Allison. She can be REALLY annoying but we get on well most of the time. I bet you will teach K all sorts of great things and show her how to be a really awesome kid just like you! It's easier if you can have a little bit of time to yourself sometimes. Being the older one can be really draining sometimes.

Dear J,

Congradulations on becoming a big sister! I don't have a little sister, but I am a little sister to my big brother. We don't get along all the time, but even when we fight we know we love each other.

I'm a grown-up now but my brother is still one of the most important people in the world to me. Just this past weekend he came in town to visit me for my birthday and meet some of my new friends.

Once again, congrats on becoming a big sister. I'm very happy for you.

I'm a long-time reader coming out of the woodwork to say congratulations on becoming a big sister. K is lucky to have you as her sister. And you are lucky to have her as your sister. Just wait: You two have a lifetime of love and fun ahead -- and maybe some bickering now and then too. There is nothing like a sister. (I have a younger sister, so I know!) Glad to see you back to posting. Please keep us up-to-date on how it's going with K and her settling into your family's routines and rhythms.

Hi Big Sis J!

I was so glad to see your blog yesterday- I couldn't wait to get back to my own computer to post.

I'm a big sister too. My little sister is seven years younger than me, so we didn't really get to play together like you and K have already been doing.

Best of luck on your new journey!

Light, love, and special Big Sis energy

Hi J!
I'm so glad to see you back to blogging again. Congratulations on becoming a "Big Sissy". I have a baby sister, too...(but, she's 56now!). There is nothing like being a big sister to help your little sister through life. You will be able to teach her so much. Please blog again to let us know how you're coming along.

I just started reading your blog today and it is amazing! When I first started reading it I thought for sure it was written by someone much older than you actually are. Your writing is so strong, truthful, and reveals what a fantastic person you are: your little sister is so lucky to have you. A while ago I decided I was going to start a blog. I created it but was too afraid to do more than that. Your bravery and honesty has convinced me to give blogging a try. Thank you so much! Keep up the good work!

I read your blog for the first time today. What a great kid you are! I am an English teacher in ND, and I must say, you are a very good writer. Good for you! I have four biological kids and am adopting four siblings from foster care in just a few months. Your blog makes me less nervous. Keep it up.
