Spending Time with Papa and Monya

Hi!

I'm sorry I have been gone for a long while. A lot has been happening. It's been a hard adjustment having a little sister but it's been good. I've had to work harder on my life because it's made my RAD brain bigger. :( Sometimes I like having a little sister. Sometimes I don't. Sharing mom is hard and sharing toys. Most days I am almost a normal kid though. I handled my anniversary date much better this year than the other years. Anniversary dates stink and make me not like my behavior.

I'm waiting on my sister to have her reading class so I have time to type this. Miss. Betsy is helping me read better. She is fun and helps me a lot. Sometimes I like the homework and sometimes I don't.

Last night I got to spend time with Papa and Monya. They came and got me and took me to church. I had an awesome time! I acted like a normal kid. I was nervous and scared before I went but I felt better when I went inside with Papa & Monya. I was a pooped puppy when I got home but I felt really proud of myself. I hope I get to go next week too. :)

I've decided that when I grow up I want to be a therapist like Miss. Kristy. I want to help kids and people feel better and be close to their moms. It's a good feeling to be close to my mom.

Have A Terrific Day!!! ♥☻☻

Dear J,

Your mom posted earlier about you going to that dinner with your grandparents. I was betting that you'd handle yourself just great. So glad to hear that you made me right!! Congratulations on that!

In my experience, little sisters get better as you grow up! Be patient with her. She probably thinks you're about the coolest person on the planet.

Keep up your hard work and give your mom a big hug for being so awesome.

Dear J,
Thanks for the update! So glad you had fun with your Grandparents. You are doing a great job!! I'm sure it was very hard getting used to having a little sister around. She is very lucky to have such a cool big sister:)
Keep up the great work:)

You write so well! I am very impressed with your insights, too. I have a daughter, Anastasia, who struggles like you do. I would be so proud of her if she could write like you do. I like the way your blog looks, too! It is gorgeous. These are my favorite colors!

I am so glad you had a nice time with your grandparents. It would be wonderful if you became a therapist. You would really be able to understand how the kids you're helping were feeling.

Hi J! I'm so glad you wrote about your time with Papa and Monya - sounds like it was a lot of fun, and you did SO WELL!

I have a little sister too and let me tell you - it is absolutely NORMAL to like having a sister sometimes and not like having a sister sometimes. It is very hard to have to share everything with them! But you will probably be very glad to have a little sister when you are older - I know I am!

Keep up the great work J! I hope you come back to write more often! :)

J, I am so happy that you have blogged again! I was telling your mom that I really missed reading you and that you are a big help to all of us moms whose kids have to work hard, like you do. So I'm so glad that you came back. Please give your mom an extra big hug for me, would you? She is an awesome mom and an awesome friend.

I never had any sisters, but I did have a brother. I felt a lot like you.. I liked having a brother sometimes, and sometimes I didn't. (Sometimes, I still feel that way!)
I know he felt/feels the same about me. No one is fun to be around ALL of the time!

Keep working hard!
Corey

I am *so* excited to see you that I think I will have to send you some more friendship energy :)

You've been working so hard on being a big sister and a normal kid- I am proud of you for doing so well with Papa and Monya.. but not as proud as your Awesome Mom is!!

I feel proud of you too! You can do so much and even though you felt nervous and scared you tried hard anyway, and then you DID IT!

FABulous!

Hi J! Way to go on being a normal kid last night for the dinner! That's SO GREAT!! I'm so glad you had fun!
I completely understand what you mean about sisters being fun sometimes and not fun other times. I have two little sisters and I felt the same way about them! Now we are very good friends.
You get to show your sister what it's like to be a normal kid...I bet she looks up to you SO MUCH!

J,

I am a little sister and I know that I used to annoy my sister but now that we are grown up we are best friends. It is normal to struggle with siblings. I am glad to hear that you had fun out on your own.

It is so nice to read that you had a nice time with Papa and Monya. I bet you'll make a great therapist because you know just how tough RAD can be and how being brave and strong with a loving Mom can help overcome the challenges!!!

My kids have almost the exact same anniversary date that you do, and I have to say I am very impressed with all of you in how well you are handling it.

You and your mom are doing a great job of helping you be a normal kid.

Hey J.
Glad to hear from you. Thanks for the little update. My daughter has had a hard time having a little sister too. That's another normal thing about you. :) So glad you had a fun time with your grandparents.

So glad you posted. My daughter got THREE new brothers and sisters in 8 months (all in 2007!) She was not excited to share me with so many kids all at once. She still hates and loves having so many siblings but most of the time she is happy enout that she want even more!

Glad you were able to have a good time with your grandparents and feel like a normal kid! You should be very proud of yourself.

Little sisters make things hard sometimes, but I think she's very lucky to have a big sister like you to look up to who can show her how to work hard and be a great person.

It's so nice that you had an awesome time at church. I'm glad that you're proud of yourself and are feeling close to your Mum too.

Hello J.
I found your blog through a page on your mom's blog which I also visited for the first time today.
You ROCK! I love your honesty and your awareness of your feelings, thoughts and patterns. That shows more maturity than some grown ups have. I hope you keep writing and DEFINITELY keep healing because you are an awesome girl who is going to go far in life!
I am an adult, I live in Maine. I don't have kids but I was hurt as a kid and now have PTSD. My therapist told me that she feels I have problems with attachment as well and so I've begun reading about it. I am glad you are doing so much good work now rather than waiting until you are a lot older.
Keep writing sweetie!

Want to know a secret? Nobody, not even so-called professionals can define normal. try it and see. Most often people define it by what they're NOT, as in "I don't try to eat my shoes and I don't moo like a cow in public. That means I'm normal."
You're still very young and you have a lot of time to grow and become the person you want to be. You can spend the rest of your life worrying that you're not normal and looking for some therapy or "expert" to fix you or you can enjoy the good things, try and avoid the bad things as much as possible and look to the future with the anticipation that you will have all the happiness that you deserve.
